The other day I saw the image below come up on my feed. The idea was so simple and the execution was flawless. I knew that I had to search to see if there was any more…
I believe the title of the post was “N for Nintendo,” which is what made me think there had to be more! I did some quick searching and was able to find the original project on the designer’s Behance page. The project is called 36days Electronics and I’m not really sure why… because there are only 26 letters in the alphabet, and 38 images in the project. Oh well they must have had a reason! And of course all the “letters” are in the Helvetica font. The great thing about this project is that the inspiration is so simple — create an alphabet using imagery from companies that start with each letter. The better part about the project is that the designer nailed each and every letter perfectly. There aren’t any letters that are two overwhelming; everything is clean and simple.
I’ve included a slideshow of some of my favorites below:
After spending the better part of an hour looking through all the images the designer created for this project including trios of letters, animated version of some of the letters, and then the entire alphabet perched on a bookshelf I figured I should go and take a look at more of their projects. It became clear after scrolling through the Behance profile that the designer’s inspiration is often simple (there was another project that was shoebox stores). I have a feeling that the success of these projects lies in the simplicity of their inspiration and their design. This is a strategy that I’ve always admired and need to emulate because often the simplest things are the most beautiful. Also, I feel as though these simple projects allow you the opportunity to hone the skills required in the design rather than in creating the idea.
Definitely following this account for more future inspiration!
